A extensive series of icons for the corporate market of KPN (Dutch Telecom Company); from website buttons until and including icons for packaging and instructive illustrations. The assignment took place in cooperation with KoeweidenPostma.
As in the beginning we could not oversee the extent of the range and which applications would be needed, we have chosen for a flexible design with two line thicknesses. With that each subject can be visualised, and getting stuck due to a too limited form opportunities and usability can be prevented. A thicker line for the ‘big’ form element and recognisability; a thin line for differentiation and detailing per subject. The advantage of a ‘practical’ corporate style is the usability for all applications and disciplines within the identity: whether it is an instruction illustration or a floor map, you build on the strength and recognisability of the brand KPN.
